Registered COSP Facilitator

About me

Hello, I'm Anastasia. As a mother of two, I decided to fulfill my childhood dream and became a teacher's assistant at a Montessori school.
At the same time, I got acquainted with Circle of Security Parenting (COSP). The more I delved into COSP, the more I felt a spark within me grow into a flame. I knew I had found the answers I was looking for, not only as a parent but also as a teacher.

Today, I'm honored to be a registered COSP facilitator and lead group and individual sessions for parents. My dream is to help families find inner peace and build warm, trusting relationships with their children. I have personally experienced the profound effect of COSP, it helps me:

  • Better understand and interpret my daughters' behavior

  • Identify and meet their unique needs as well as mine

  • Navigate conflicts with confidence

  • And surprisingly, enrich my relationships with my husband, my parents, and even myself

I only regret not learning about COSP earlier, but as the course’s founders say, "It's never too late." It's never too late to build relationships with our children, whether they are 4 months or 40 years old.Join me on this exciting journey!

Circle of Security Parenting (COSP)

About the Founders

Kent Hoffman, Glen Cooper, and Bert Powell, three psychotherapists from Spokane, WA, have spent over 30 years simplifying complex research into practical protocols for families and adults. They've collaborated for 20 years to develop the Circle of Security. Their innovative work has earned them prestigious awards:

  • the Washington Governor's Award for Innovation in Prevention

  • the Bowlby-Ainsworth Award from the New York Attachment Consortium

What is COSP?

Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) is a program that helps parents build stronger, more loving relationships with their children. Even though children don't come with instructions, they actually know a lot about how to connect with their parents. By learning from them and using COSP, parents can figure out how to handle the tough times with more ease and confidence. It's like having a guidebook for parenting!

The Circle of Security program isn't just for parents! It can also help :

  • grandparents

  • extended family members (aunts and uncles)

  • foster parents

  • nannies, and other early care professionals

understand how important attachment is. By learning about attachment, all these caregivers can build more secure and loving relationships with the children in their lives.

The Circle of Security Diagram

COSP offers parents helpful tools. One of them is the Circle Diagram that shows parents how to understand their children's behavior, so they can know exactly what their children need.

We all have some basic needs that stay with us throughout our lives. At COSP, we think of our needs like a circle:

  • going out to explore and try new things

  • coming back to safety and comfort

  • being guided by people who care about us, but also give us space to make our own choices

By understanding these needs and paying attention to cues that we or someone else needs support, we can be a better parent, friend and even take care of ourself!

But, the COSP diagram is not enough when facing challenging behaviors like tantrums, screaming, and refusal. COSP offers additional layers of understanding and practical tools to help you navigate these difficult moments.

COSP sessions

Sessions Overview

Welcome to my COSP sessions, where we explore the world of parenting in a comfortable and relaxed setting. We'll chat over a cup of tea or coffee, making it easy to connect and discuss important topics.

In our first session, you’ll receive a caregiver workbook that will guide you through 8 sessions, each lasting 2 hours. Over the next 8 sessions, we’ll dive into real-life videos and engaging discussions that shed light on the complexities of relationships.

Each session (once per week) begins with a unique opportunity to share personal stories, called 'Circle Stories'. We’ll then apply COSP tools to analyze and interpret these stories, revealing fresh understandings and perspectives.

With a maximum of 3 people per group, we’ll tailor the format to suit the group’s needs, including:

  • online

  • offline

  • hybrid

Small group size gives an opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts and feelings.

As we progress on this journey, you’ll have time to reflect on your own relationships and observe your children's behavior. You’ll start to notice patterns and connections that had previously gone unnoticed.

Don't worry if you miss a session - just catch up with a makeup session. And, upon completion, you'll receive a certificate and proudly become a COSP parent!

Note: These sessions are exclusively for caregivers, providing a safe space for sharing and learning.
